Missions

Because our Spring Break mission is such a big deal in the life of our ministry, we would love to tell you a little more about it.
Some Spring Breaks we have sent students all over the world; other times, we have sent all of our students, in one large group, to a single place. Regardless of the specifics, our hope in mission to respond to the call of God to go out into all the world and make disciples of Jesus Christ. This does not always mean we need to go on international, short term trips. Quite frankly, we think missions ought to be a way of life - why we are, how we are, and where we are. But it can often be an eye opening experience to see how God is at work in the world, to serve in someone else’s context, and to bring what we learn home. More specifically, in each of our mission opportunities, we long to see the following five things even as we hope each student grows in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ:
✴Community - more students on one trip means a greater sense of community in and around The House
✴Unity - our staff working together on one trip means more unity as we work and pray together with a common purpose
✴Future Mission - deeper relationships with one organization means a greater opportunity for students to do future mission work.
✴More Effective Ministry - each year we learn and grow in our ability to serve alongside the local ministries
✴Leadership - students who participate their freshman or sophomore year can lead aspects of the trip in later years

Kristin Duffy Scholarship Fund
This year marks ten years that God called home a beloved servant in our ministry. Kristen was involved in The House as a resident, core group leader, and an avid supporter of mission work. In honor of her life and passion for missions, her family and friends are offering a scholarship fund in her name to support current students of The House going on missions. This is ourThis organization provides basic needs, like education and medical attention, to Haitian refugee children living in the Dominican. Their hope is to raise these children to be future leaders that transform their nation. We have come alongside them in a variety of ways, from construction, dance, and art teams to sports, medical assistance, and classroom help) as we seek to see our Lord alive in their midst and in our own. This year we are sending 50 students to the Dominican on this trip and we are seeing God create leaders and transform hearts in the midst of it.
Belize
As we look to the future, we are taking a vision trip to Belize with some student leaders this Spring Break. We are partnering with Son Servants (http://ycmhome.org/son-servants), based right here in Chattanooga, and asking them to help us discern how we can invest in Spring Break Missions in the future. Our group will visit a number of different on site projects and, through prayer and discussion, decide if this is something we want to invest in for the next few years over Spring Break and other partnership opportunities.
