Development Officer

We’re looking for a resourceful story teller to grow with us as we expand our ministry to college students in Chattanooga, TN. Before you apply, please read this job description to make sure you’re the kind of person we’re looking for.

Compensation: Total compensation is commensurate with your experience and the growth of The House.

Work Schedule: This position is a 24 hour/week salaried position with 3 weeks annual paid vacation plus additional paid holidays.  Work hours are very flexible and will mostly take place during weekdays. However, some weekends and evenings will be required for special events. This can possibly be a full-time position, depending on the candidate.

Responsibilities:  Under the leadership of the executive director, the Development Officer of The House will lead development efforts as our ministry continues to grow. This includes having a pulse on our financial partners and the development and management of our portfolio of relationships through communications strategies and in-person meetings. The Development Officers will have the opportunity to collaboratively define this role.

Minimum Requirements:  High competency in relationship development, story telling, and managing a network of contacts is needed.  If a candidate can prove they have these skills, we are open to hiring him or her.  

Must be good at time management, possess strong organizational skills (for yourself and organizing others), and able to anticipate the needs of our organization and financial partners.  Strong skills in verbal communication, writing, proofreading, and a friendly attitude are needed to do this job well.  Person must be a self-starter and resourceful enough to figure things out on their own when situations require it. Christian belief and character as well as regular church involvement is essential.  This should include a love for student ministry, personal growth, and God’s people.
