Often in an intimate setting like a Core Group, people have the opportunity to share struggles and situations that none of us in the group are capable or trained to walk with someone through. In these situations, we don't have the right to be arrogant or cavalier with someone else's life, we should pray for them and walk with them as much as possible while still directing them to people who are gifted in responding to those circumstances. Please take a glance through these resources so you know what's out there to help your students if the need arises.

A list of books, with summaries, that people have used in the past in Core Group settings. It is encouraged to use books that reference a lot of Scripture, or at least refer back to the Bible when the book draws conclusions. Print it out and let your guys or girls look over them. See what they are interested in and why. Feedback on these books is always appreciated as well. |

This is one of the most important aspects of a Core Group. The relationships you build with each other will allow you to have more meaningful dialogue, listen better, pray more accurately and ultimately point each other to Jesus more effectively. These are not just studies, Core Groups are meant to be places where the Word of God is impacting the reality of who we are together and as individuals.

We place an extreme value on the importance one on one, or face to face, relationships. Often in these settings we can know each better, speak into one another's lives more accurately, listen more specifically and love more genuinely. This resource outlines some suggestions on what to do with a one on one circumstance. How can we point people to Jesus in these settings? |

If you don't have time to have each person do a 2 hour testimony, it may be helpful to give them a sheet like this one. Have them take it home and spend a significant amount of time filling it out. Then spend a week or two going over the answers together and just getting to know one another. If you have suggestions for other questions on a sheet like this, please let us know.

At some point throughout the year it might be helpful to provide some space for your group to openly talk about how their experience together has been up to that point and where they would like to see it go. A sheet like this may be a helpful tool for discussion. It is almost always helpful to give students time to think about this stuff before they have to answer it.

This is a quiz that might help you gauge the Biblical & Historical knowledge of the members of your group. Be careful with this type of thing, however. We don't want people thinking that they aren't a 'good Christian' if they don't know this stuff. This is simply a tool to help us figure out what to study or where to study. It might also be very freeing for the members of your group to know that no one has all the answers and it might open their eyes to how God has been at work throughout history. |
